I remember feeling very vulnerable as we were hit by wave after wave of problems. I remember falling into depression. But I also remember the sense I had that as long as the four of us stood together, we would be OK, regardless. There was certainly joy mixed in with the stress, a sense that happiness didn't depend entirely on our financial circumstances.
